Pet-Safe House Cleaning: What We Use and Why

If your home includes a dog, a cat, or any other four-legged family member, you've probably wondered what's actually in the products used to clean your floors and counters. Pets walk on, lie on, and lick the same surfaces we clean, so it's a fair question. Here's exactly what Bucket & Shine uses in homes across Westminster, Arvada, Thornton, and the NW Denver metro, and why.

Our main cleaner: EnvirOx H2Orange2

Most of what we clean in your home is cleaned with EnvirOx H2Orange2, a green-certified cleaner made with hydrogen peroxide and orange oil. We chose it because it:

  • Cleans and deodorizes effectively on counters, floors, bathrooms, and most water-safe surfaces
  • Breaks down odor-causing bacteria instead of just covering smells with heavy fragrance
  • Is green-certified, so we can clean thoroughly without relying on harsh chemical cleaners for everyday work

It's the product you'll find in our Bucket & Shine spray bottles on every clean.

For hard water and soap scum: Bio-Clean

Colorado's hard water leaves spots on faucets, glass shower doors, and tile. For that, we use Bio-Clean, a biodegradable hard water and stain remover that cuts through mineral buildup and soap scum.

When we use something stronger

We believe in being upfront: some jobs, like baked-on cooktop grime or stained stainless steel, need a stronger cleanser. When we use one, it's targeted to that spot. If you'd prefer we skip stronger products entirely, just tell us. We'll note it on your account so every cleaner knows.

How to prep your home and pets for cleaning day

A few simple steps make cleaning day easier for everyone, including your pets:

  1. Give pets a safe space. A closed room, crate, or backyard keeps them comfortable and out of the way while we work.
  2. Pick up pet toys and bowls from the floor so we can clean underneath.
  3. Let freshly mopped floors dry before letting pets back into those rooms.
  4. Tell us about sensitivities. If a pet (or person!) in your home has allergies or reacts to certain scents, let us know when you book.

Cleaning homes with pets is what we do

Pet hair on furniture, nose prints on glass doors, paw prints in the entryway: it's all part of a well-loved home, and our team handles it every day. Whether you need recurring cleaning to stay ahead of the shedding or a one-time deep clean, we'll leave your home fresh for every member of the family.
